AND WHEN WE feel disconnected we start to see the world as an uninviting place. We read the faces around us as dismissive, we interpret friendly
comments as criticisms or attacks. We are more stressed,
more tense in our bodies, more likely to fall into
depression or even physical sickness.
The lonely mind’s tendency to interpret our world as
a mean place keeps us isolated on our ledge, protecting ourselves,
as if the workings of the universe are plotting to drag us into the abyss below.
